Grinding ring clamp bolts, roll retaining bolts, journal cover and spring assembly bolting, liner bolts, flange bolts, coal pipe studs and anchor bolts, made in Houston to your drawings and specifications.
A vertical-spindle bowl mill in the 2.4 m bowl size class (about 59 t/h of coal), with three 1.4 m grinding rolls, taken apart as at a mill overhaul. The coal pipe elbows and discharge valves come off the four outlets, then the feed pipe and the separator top lift out with the classifier. The spring assemblies and journal opening covers are unbolted, the trunnion shafts are drawn, and each journal is lifted out through its opening and turned so the roll tyre can come off. Then the doors, the separator body, the liners and the mill side, the vane wheel, the ring clamps and grinding ring segments, the bowl, and last the motor, the gear housing and the anchor nuts. The bolting we make is in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model, or Cutaway to see the bowl, a roll and its journal, the classifier cone and the worm gear in section.
Studs with a nut each end at the two flanged joints of each discharge valve, on all four coal outlets.
A ring of bolts holding the separator top and classifier to the separator body, with the outlet cover and feed pipe flange bolts above it.
Studs and nuts holding each spring housing to its journal opening cover, and the threaded preload stud and lock nut that set the spring force.
Bolt each cover to its frame on the separator body. The journal and roll come out through this opening.
Hold the end caps that keep each trunnion shaft in the sides of the journal opening frame.
Hold the retaining plate that keeps the roll tyre on the lower journal housing. Out at every tyre change.
Close the access doors in the mill side and separator body and the gate on the pyrites spout.
Join the separator body to the mill side and the mill side to the gear housing.
Countersunk-head bolts, flush in the wear liners, through the mill side wall to a washer and nut.
Bolt the vane wheel segments to the ledge round the bowl.
Draw the clamps down on the inside edge of the grinding ring segments, holding them on the bowl of 2,400 mm nominal diameter.
Hold the pyrites scrapers under the bowl and their wear blades.
Fix the bowl to the hub on the vertical main shaft.
Coupling bolts between the motor and the worm shaft, and the motor hold-down bolts.
Bolt the gear housing to the base plate.
Cast into the concrete foundation, holding the base plate down. Typically ASTM F1554.

The size class (2,400 mm nominal bowl diameter, 1,400 mm rolls, about 59 t/h) follows a maker's published size table; the housings, bowl, journals, covers, doors, classifier, coal outlets, gear and motor are illustrative typical proportions, and every bolt count and bolt size is typical. Designs vary (planetary or worm gear, spring or hydraulic loading, static or dynamic classifier, the way the grinding ring and roll tyres are held) and your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.
Drawn as a typical 2.4 m bowl mill from a maker's published size table, power industry articles and public patents, with bolting to ISO 898-1 property classes, ASTM A193 / A194, ASTM F436 hardened washers and ASTM F1554 anchor rods.
