A gate valve, taken apart to show what we make

A 12-inch Class 300 bolted-bonnet gate valve, taken apart the way a fitter does it: the end flange nuts spin off and the line flanges pull away, then the bonnet, gland, yoke and handwheel come off in turn. The bolting we make is in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model, or Cutaway to see the wedge, seats and packing inside.

What's highlighted, and where it goes

    Valve

    Bonnet studs & nuts

Clamp the bonnet to the body over the bonnet gasket: the valve's main pressure-containing bolting.

    Gland eyebolts & nuts

Hinged eyebolts pinned to the bonnet, pulling the gland down onto the stem packing.

    Yoke studs & nuts

Bolt the yoke to the bonnet. The yoke carries the stem nut and handwheel.

    Handwheel nut

Holds the handwheel on the yoke sleeve.

    Line

    End flange studs & nuts

Bolt the valve into the pipeline: sixteen 1-1/8 in. studs per end flange on a 17-3/4 in. bolt circle (ASME B16.5 Class 300, NPS 12), each with two heavy hex nuts.

Valve bolting to your drawing, with the MTR for the heat. Send us your drawings and material spec.

A generic 12 in. Class 300 valve, not any maker's design. The flanges, end studs and face-to-face length follow ASME B16.5 and B16.10; the body, bonnet and yoke shapes are illustrative, and the bonnet, gland and yoke bolt counts are typical. Your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.

Drawn to ASME B16.5 (flanges and studs), ASME B16.10 (face-to-face length) and API 600 (bolted-bonnet steel gate valves).
