A primary jaw crusher, taken apart to show what we make

A 42 × 48 in. single-toggle jaw crusher (1,065 × 1,220 mm feed opening) on rubber isolation mounts, taken apart the way a crew strips it. First the reline: the wedge bolt nuts spin off, and the jaw dies and cheek plates lift out of the crushing chamber. Then the V-belts, flywheels, motor and tension rods come off, the bearing caps lift and the pitman comes out on its eccentric shaft. Last the crusher is lifted off its mounts and the frame is unbolted, down to the anchor bolts. The bolting we make is in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model, or Cutaway to see the crushing chamber, the jaw dies and the eccentric shaft in its bearings.

What's highlighted, and where it goes

    Frame & crushing chamber

    Frame bolts

Large bolts with hardened washers joining the two side plates to the cast front and rear frame ends, so the frame is bolted rather than welded. Typically class 10.9.

    Jaw die wedge bolts

Tee-head bolts that pull the wedges locking each two-piece jaw die, through the front frame or the pitman, against a disc spring stack, a nut and a lock nut. A wear consumable, replaced with the dies at a reline.

    Cheek plate bolts

Countersunk bolts holding the upper and lower side liners inside each side plate, nutted on the outside of the frame. Changed with the liners.

    Shaft, toggle & drive

Main bearing cap studs & nuts

Four large studs per cap clamp the split main bearing housings over the eccentric shaft's frame bearings.

    Flywheel locking assembly screws

A ring of class 12.9 socket head cap screws in each flywheel hub's keyless locking assembly, gripping the shaft by friction.

    Tension rods, nuts & washers

Rods from the pitman toe through the rear frame, spring-loaded to keep the toggle plate seated.

    Motor & motor base bolts

Hold the motor on its base and the base's pivot brackets to the back of the crusher.

    Belt tensioning rods

Threaded rods with nuts each end that set the angle of the pivoting motor base, and so the V-belt tension.

    Mounting

    Isolation mount bolts

Studs, washers and nuts fixing each support foot to the top plate of its sandwich-type rubber isolation mount.

    Foundation anchor bolts

Cast into the concrete support walls, holding each mount's bottom plate down. Typically ASTM F1554.

A generic 42 × 48 in. single-toggle jaw crusher, not any maker's design. The feed opening, speed and V-belt drive follow published figures for this size class, and the wedge bolt size is one maker's published figure; the frame, pitman, flywheels and housings are illustrative typical proportions, and the bolt counts and other bolt sizes are typical. Designs vary (some crushers stand on their dampers without anchor bolts, some have welded frames) and your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.

Drawn as a typical 42 × 48 in. single-toggle jaw crusher from makers' published specifications and maintenance manuals, with bolting to ISO 898-1 property classes, ASTM F436 hardened washers, ASTM F1554 anchor rods and ISO 4183 V-belt grooves.
