A fixed offshore platform, taken apart to show what we make

A four-leg fixed steel jacket platform in 100 ft of water, with four 30-inch conductors, a 10-inch and an 8-inch Class 600 riser, a J-tube and a sump caisson. The jacket, piles and decks are welded and stay put; the bolted joints come apart in turn. The riser-top flange nuts spin off and the spools lift; the well-bay hatches and guide beams unbolt; the trees strip down flange by flange; the skids, crane and vent boom lift off; the stair, handrails and grating come away; the boat landing pulls off its shock cells and the bumpers off their clamps; last, the clamp caps come off, the risers, J-tube and caisson leave their neoprene-lined saddles and the leg clamps open. The bolting we make is in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model. The whole structure is drawn, so the fasteners are small until you pick a part from the list.

What's highlighted, and where it goes

    Jacket & splash zone

    Riser clamp studs & nuts

Bolted double clamps hold each pipeline riser to a jacket leg: a two-half clamp on the leg, a stand-off and a neoprene-lined two-half clamp round the riser, with long studs through the lugs.

    J-tube & caisson clamp studs

The same bolted clamps hold the J-tube and the sump caisson to their leg at each elevation.

    Boat landing shock-cell bolts

Eight bolts at each flange of the four rubber shock cells between the leg brackets and the boat landing frame.

    Barge bumper clamp studs

Bolted split clamps on the leg carry each replaceable bumper post.

    Access

    Stair & handrail bolts

Stringers to landing clips, landings to deck-edge lugs and hangers, and two bolts at the foot of every handrail stanchion.

    Grating clips & bolts

A saddle clip, stud and nut at the corners of each grating panel on the cellar-deck walkways.

    Wells & piping

    Riser-top flange studs & nuts

ASME B16.5 Class 600 raised-face flanges where each riser meets the topsides piping: sixteen 1-1/4 in. × 8-1/2 in. studs on a 17 in. bolt circle (NPS 10) and twelve 1-1/8 in. × 7-1/2 in. on 13-3/4 in. (NPS 8).

    Wellhead & tree flange studs

API 6A 5,000 psi studs at every flanged joint of the four dry trees: twelve 1-7/8 in. at the 11 in. casing head, twelve 1-3/8 in. at the 7-1/16 in. tubing head and eight 1-1/8 in. at each 3-1/8 in. valve joint.

    Topsides structure

Conductor guide frame & hatch bolts

Bolt the well-bay beams to fin plates on the main deck framing and hold the removable hatches down.

    Equipment skid hold-down bolts

Through the base beams of skids into sole plates on the deck, so a package can be lifted off and replaced.

    Crane slewing-ring bolts

Two rings: bearing to pedestal flange, and crane house to bearing.

Flare boom splice & base bolts

Flanged chord splices between the two boom sections and at the flanged stubs on the deck edge.

A generic four-pile shelf platform in 100 ft of water, not any operator's or fabricator's design. The riser-top flanges and their studs follow ASME B16.5 Class 600 (NPS 10 and NPS 8), and the wellhead and tree flanges, studs and ring gaskets follow the API 6A type 6B 5,000 psi table. Everything else is illustrative typical proportions: the jacket, piles, braces and decks (welded, so they do not come apart here), the clamps, shock cells, bumpers, stair, grating, hatches, skids, crane and boom, and their bolt sizes and counts. Sacrificial anodes are shown welded on. Materials are named as typical only; splash-zone and subsea bolting material and coating are set by your project specification. Your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.

Drawn to ASME B16.5 (Class 600 riser-top flanges and studs) and API 6A (5,000 psi wellhead and tree flanges, studs and ring gaskets); the structure is the kind of shelf platform designed to API RP 2A-WSD.
