Mist eliminator J-bolts and hold-down bolts, distributor clamps and levelling screws, feed pipe U-bolts and flange bolts, bed limiter and support plate bolting, manway and nozzle studs and nuts, made in Houston to your drawings and specifications.
The top section of a packed column, 6 ft inside diameter, of the kind used as an absorber, stripper or scrubber: a wire-mesh mist eliminator under the vapour outlet, a trough distributor fed from the liquid inlet, a bed limiter, a random-packed bed and a gas-injection support plate. It is opened up the way a crew does it at a turnaround. The nozzle nuts spin off and the piping pulls clear, the 24-inch manway cover swings aside on its davit, the hold-down bars and J-bolt nuts come off and the pad sections lift, the feed pipe, parting box and troughs are unbolted and come out in pieces, the bed limiter is unbolted from its clips, the packing is taken out and the support plate is unclamped from its ring. The fasteners we make are in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model, then Cutaway to open the shell and see every internal in place.
Each J-bolt hooks over the bottom grid of a pad section, passes down through the support ring and takes a nut and a lock nut underneath: four to a section. Tie wire through the ring is the common lighter alternative.
Bolt the hold-down bars to clips welded on the shell, so the bars lie across the top grids and keep every pad section seated.
At each trough end a levelling screw bears on the support ring to set the trough level, and a clamp bolt pulls a ledge clamp up under the ring to hold it there.
Bolt the parting box to a saddle on each trough, so the distributor passes the manway in pieces.
Eight 5/8 in. bolts on a 7-1/2 in. bolt circle (NPS 4, ASME B16.5 Class 150 drilling) join the feed pipe to the flange inside the liquid inlet nozzle; two U-bolts hold the pipe down over the parting box.
Hold the bed limiter down on clips welded to the shell and join its sections to each other, so the packing cannot lift in an upset.
Ledge clamps pull each beam section of the gas-injection support plate down onto the support ring; bolts through the lips join the sections to each other.
Clamp the 24-inch blind cover over the manway gasket: twenty 1-1/4 in. studs on a 29-1/2 in. bolt circle (ASME B16.5 Class 150, NPS 24), each with two heavy hex nuts. Off at every turnaround.
The threaded eyebolt that hangs the manway cover from the davit arm, and the pin that joins it to the lug on the cover.
Class 150 raised-face joints: twelve 7/8 in. studs on the NPS 12 vapour outlet and eight 5/8 in. studs on the NPS 4 liquid inlet.

The manway and nozzle flanges, their studs and gaskets and the feed pipe flange drilling follow ASME B16.5 and B16.20. The J-bolt arrangement (four per section, nut and lock nut), the 3/8 in. size of the internals hardware and the support ring widths follow published vendor practice and are typical, not a standard. The shell, head, davit, mist eliminator, distributor, bed limiter, packing and support plate are illustrative, typical proportions, the bed is drawn shorter than a real one, and every internals bolt count is typical. Your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.
Drawn to ASME B16.5 (Class 150 flanges, blind manway cover, stud bolts and the feed pipe flange drilling), ASME B16.20 (spiral-wound gaskets) and ASME B36.10 (nozzle and feed pipe), with the internals and their hardware laid out to published installation practice for mesh mist eliminators and packed tower internals.
