Thrust adapter and load cell bolts, structural and anchor bolts, manway and feed line flange studs and nuts, valve bonnet studs and U-bolts, made in Houston to your drawings and specifications.
A generic vertical-firing engine test stand: a four-column steel stand 35 feet to the top of steel on a concrete foundation, an engine hanging from a thrust adapter under three load cells, two vacuum-jacketed run tanks feeding it through NPS 6 Class 900 lines, and a flame deflector with deluge water below. It comes apart the way a crew would do it: the feed line flange nuts spin off, the run valves come out and the lines clear the engine, the engine lowers off the thrust adapter, the load cells and flexures unbolt, the tank manways open, the thrust girders and column splices unbolt, and the stand lifts off its anchor bolts. The bolting we make is in colour. Press Solid view for a steel model, or Cutaway to see the run tank wall inside its vacuum jacket, a feed line joint and valve in section, and the thrust adapter.
Bolt the engine's mounting flange to the bottom ring of the thrust adapter: twelve bolts with nuts and washers (typical; the interface drawing governs).
Rings of studs and nuts joining platen, flexure, load cell, flexure and thrust adapter in each of three stacks (eight per joint, typical).
Hold the thrust takeout girders up under the stand's cross girders: sixteen heavy structural bolts, ASTM F3125 Grade A490 typical.
Through the splice plates on both flanges of each column: sixteen bolts per column, ASTM F3125 Grade A325 typical, with F436 washers.
Cast into the foundation, up through the column base plates and run tank base rings, with a washer and heavy hex nut on each. ASTM F1554 typical.
Twenty 1-5/8 in. studs on a 24-1/4 in. bolt circle clamp the blind cover on each tank's NPS 16 manway (ASME B16.5 Class 900), each with two heavy hex nuts.
Eight 7/8 in. studs on each NPS 3 Class 900 pressurising and vent nozzle.
Twelve 1-1/8 in. studs on a 12-1/2 in. bolt circle at every NPS 6 Class 900 joint (ASME B16.5): tank outlet, both sides of the run valve and the engine inlet. Low-temperature bolting such as ASTM A320 L7 or B8 is typical for cold service.
Clamp the bonnet, stem and actuator onto each run valve body: twelve studs per valve, typical.
Hold each feed line down on its supports, with nuts under the support plate.
Eight 3/4 in. studs on each NPS 8 Class 150 joint between the water risers and the deluge header.

The feed line, manway, nozzle and deluge flanges, their studs and gaskets follow ASME B16.5 and B16.20; the stand steelwork, thrust takeout structure, load cells, flexures, thrust adapter, engine shape, run tanks, valves, pipe supports, flame deflector and foundation are illustrative, typical proportions, and every other bolt count, size and material grade is typical. Your drawings govern. We manufacture to your drawings and specifications.
Flanged joints are drawn to ASME B16.5 (Class 900 feed line, manway and nozzle flanges and stud bolts; Class 150 deluge flanges), ASME B16.20 (spiral-wound gaskets), ASME B16.10 (valve face-to-face length) and ASME B36.10 (pipe); the general arrangement follows public NASA descriptions of engine test stands.
