ASME B16.5 (NPS 1/2 to 24) and B16.47 (NPS 26 to 60) set the number and diameter of the bolts for each flange size and class, so the count comes straight from the table: 12 studs of 3/4 in. for an NPS 6 Class 300 flange, 8 for Class 150. The studs follow ASME B18.31.2 unless the order says otherwise, and their length is measured from first thread to first thread, without the points (ASTM A193, A962).
Grades that look alike must not be mixed: a B7 and a B7M stud, or a 2H and a 2HM nut, look the same and are told apart only by their marking. That is why every part carries its grade marking, and why each set is bagged and boxed, and its box labelled for the flange it was counted for.

model dataBolt counts from the ASME B16.5 flange tables: NPS 6 Class 300, 12 bolts of 3/4 in.; Class 150, 8. B7 studs with A194 2H nuts as common practice; Grade 7 nuts for L7 and Grade 8-family nuts for B8 from ASTM A320. UNC threads to 1 in. and 8 UN above, Class 2A and 2B, heavy hex nuts, points one to two threads long and length from first thread to first thread from ASTM A962 and A193; grade and maker's marks on one end of each stud and on every nut from ASTM A962. Studs drawn as 3/4-10 UNC-2A and nuts to ASME B18.2.2 heavy hex proportions; a right-hand nut runs on one pitch, 0.100 in., per clockwise turn seen from its end. No stud length is given, as published conventions differ. The flange is drawn in proportion without dimensions; stud ends are marked INF (the maker's mark), the grade and the heat number, one line under another, and nut faces the same three equally spaced round the face; H-24A117 is an example heat, and every value on the shipping label (customer, packing list, PO, cert and part numbers) is a sample. The rack, tray, counter, bag and shelf are generic, and the box is a plain brown carton printed with the company logo; the nuts going onto the other studs and the packing are shown in time-lapse.
