Nickel-Aluminum Bronze C63000
Steel-like strength in a bronze — 100 to 130 ksi as a fastener — with seawater, cavitation and wear resistance for propellers, pumps, valve seats and subsea hardware.
What C63000 Ni-Al Bronze is.
C63000 is a 10 percent aluminum bronze with about 5 percent nickel and 3 percent iron. The nickel and iron form kappa-phase particles that push the tensile strength to 100 ksi and beyond, give excellent wear and cavitation resistance and improve corrosion resistance in seawater to the point that the alloy is the standard for naval propellers, pump impellers and valve seats.
ASTM F468 lists C63000 fasteners as Cu 630 (marking F468H) at 100 to 130 ksi, the highest strength of any copper alloy in the specification. We machine C63000 bolts, studs, nuts and components from certified B150 rod.

What is nickel-aluminum bronze?
Adding nickel and iron to a 10 percent aluminum bronze produces a complex multi-phase structure with strength rivalling quenched-and-tempered steel and corrosion resistance better than any other copper alloy in seawater. The nickel suppresses the dealuminification that troubles plain high-aluminum bronzes, and the alloy resists cavitation and erosion, which is why it dominates propeller and pump-impeller service. It is also non-sparking and slightly magnetic because of its iron.
As a fastener
At 100 to 130 ksi full-size tensile and 50 ksi yield, F468H is the strongest copper-alloy fastener grade and one of the few that competes with steel on load. Elongation is low, 5 percent minimum, so the alloy is machined rather than headed, and threads are cut or rolled from bar. Nuts to F467 (F467H) carry a 100 ksi proof stress. It is widely used for subsea and naval bolting where magnetic signature, sparking or seawater rule out steel.
