Socket head cap screws fit where there is no room for a wrench: the hex socket takes an Allen key, and the cylindrical head sits in a counterbore. Alloy socket screws are made to ASTM A574 and ASME B18.3; low-head, flat (countersunk) and button heads trade strength for clearance, and shoulder screws give a precise bearing diameter for pivots and guides.
We broach the drive on our hydraulic press, so we can make stainless, nickel-alloy and non-standard socket products from bar — the ones that are rarely stocked — imperial and metric.
