Cast Nickel-Aluminum Bronze C95500
The strongest common cast bronze — 95 ksi as cast, 110 ksi heat treated — for propeller hubs, seawater valve bodies, gears and the heaviest wear applications.
What C95500 Ni-Al Bronze is.
C95500 is the cast nickel-aluminum bronze. Nickel and iron at about 4 percent each give it 95 ksi tensile as cast and 110 ksi after heat treatment, together with the outstanding seawater, cavitation and wear resistance that make the alloy family the standard for marine propulsion and pump components. It is the cast counterpart of wrought C63000.
We machine C95500 components from certified B505 continuous-cast bar, as cast or heat treated (C95500HT).

What is C95500 nickel-aluminum bronze?
C95500 adds 4 percent nickel to the 11 percent aluminum, 4 percent iron base of C95400. The nickel stabilises the structure against dealuminification in seawater and, with the iron, forms hard kappa phases that give the alloy its wear and cavitation resistance. It is the alloy behind most ship propellers and the seawater valves and pumps on offshore platforms, and B505 continuous-cast bar makes it available for machined components without a pattern.
Conditions and machining
As cast, C95500 delivers 95 ksi tensile and 42 ksi yield; the heat-treated C95500HT condition raises those to 110 and 62 ksi with a small loss of ductility. Machinability is about 50 percent of free-cutting brass; carbide tooling and positive rake are recommended. Anti-seize is advisable on threaded assemblies, as with all aluminum bronzes.
Testing, certification and marking
- Tensile and hardness tested per lot on the finished product
- Grade or alloy marking by UNS number, condition and heat on the certificate and manufacturer's identification on every piece
- EN 10204 3.1 material test report with heat number and chemistry; 3.2 witness available
- Alloy identified by UNS number on the certificate
