What are vented socket screws?
A vented screw is a standard socket head cap screw with a hole drilled straight down its axis. In vacuum chambers and sealed assemblies, the blind hole under an ordinary screw traps a pocket of gas that leaks out slowly and ruins pump-down; the vent gives that gas a path out.
